Review #135: Amazon Echo Dot

A few months ago I splurged and purchased an Amazon Echo Dot on a whim. I didn’t expect much, however, my husband and I are big technology dorks so I thought it was worth a try. I was thoroughly impressed upon receiving it. The dot only took about 5 minutes to set up and link to my Amazon account. It automatically turns on when you say “Alexa” and signifies by lighting up blue. Alexa then can do many different options from there. You can ask Alexa what the weather will be tomorrow, for random information, to add things to your to-do list, to set a timer, to play music and so much more. Alexa even has foreign language games or you can order straight from Amazon just by asking her. Overall, we are very satisfied with this purchase and excited to add some smart outlets and light bulbs so that Alexa can control these items by voice so we don’t have to keep lights on at night just in case a child needs to walk down the hall to our room.
